MARK S. SCHECHTER, M.D. A native of Illinois and raised in Southern California, Dr. Schechter received a medical degree from Penn State University College of Medicine at Hershey Medical Center. He then went to UCLA where he obtained his diagnostic radiology residency training and a fellowship in Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology.

Dr. Schechter joined Radiology Medical Group in 1984 and was the first fellowship-trained Interventional Radiologist at Scripps Mercy Hospital. He is board-certified in Diagnostic Radiology and also has subspecialty CAQ certification in Angiography and Interventional Radiology. Dr. Schechter performs all types of Interventional Radiology procedures, and has special interests in Uterine Fibroid Embolization (UFE) and embolization therapy of peripheral AVM’s and venous malformations.

Dr. Schechter also remains active in numerous aspects of cross-sectional imaging including PET/CT and Cardiac CT. He recently completed American College of Cardiology Level II certification for cardiac CT and is co-director of the Imaging Healthcare Specialists Heart Center in La Jolla, CA.
